Castlevania: Rondo of Blood was originally released for the TurboGrafx-16 in 1993. Starring Richter Belmont, the game featured anime cutscenes and voice acting, but was only released in Japan. While Wii’s Virtual Console gave the game an international release in 2010, gamers haven’t yet had a chance to play the hard to find SNES remake, entitled Castlevania: Dracula X, which will be released on the Japanese Virtual Console on April 23.
Still starring Richter Belmont, albeit without second playable character Maria, Dracula X also features higher difficulty and different levels. While no international release has been confirmed, the presence of the original game on the Virtual Console combined with the fact that Dracula X has been rated by the Australian classification board means that it would not be unreasonable to expect to see it fairly soon.
