Azure Striker Gunvolt was an indie hit from Inti Creates whose success caught nobody by surprise. The developers had proven their ability at making great sidescrolling action-platformers with the Mega Man Zero games for DS, and Azure Striker Gunvolt immediately appeared to be cut from the same cloth, albeit with some significant tweaks to make the game its own. Now the sequel, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, has a release date in Japan: August 25.
However, that’s not all that was announced. While the new game will be available for download in the 3DS eShop for 1060 yen, it will also be released physically, in a bundle with the original for 4800 yen. Hardcore fans of the franchise will also be able to drop 6800 yen for a special Striker Pack that comes with the games, a booklet, and an audio drama CD.
Nothing has yet been said about how the game will be released outside of Japan, though plenty of gamers around the world would likely enjoy the option of getting a hard copy. Plus, considering the physical release of Shovel Knight, it wouldn’t be the first time a 3DS eShop hit made its way onto store shelves.
