Amazon Now Taking Pre-orders for Super Smash Bros. GameCube Controller and Adapter Bundle

Reserve the Smash essentials.

While we still don’t have an exact release date for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, that hasn’t stopped Amazon from officially opening the game up for pre-order. Fans can reserve the title through Amazon right now for $59.99, but if you fancy the GameCube controller, you can also pre-order the Super Smash Bros. bundle for $99.99. The bundle includes a brand new GameCube controller with the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U insignia emblazoned on the front, as well as an adapter for Wii U that will allow you to use any GameCube controller with the system. You can also pre-order both the adapter and controller separately for $19.99 and $29.99, respectively.

I think this adapter was a great move by Nintendo, especially if the company decides to add GameCube controller support for other titles like Super Mario 3D World or Mario Kart 8. I’ll definitely be picking up the bundle to save myself from having to buy all the pieces separately, and because I know many of my friends still cling to the GameCube glory days and do not want to use Wii Remotes to Smash. Are you planning on picking up one of these bundles? What other games would you like to see get GCN controller support? Let us know in the comments below!

I would like to have it, yes. I also see someone is making a Yoshi-themed controller, so they’ll probably get my money for that, too.

I’d love to get that bundle, but Smash is one of those games I’ll want installed on my Wii U at all times. You’d think they would offer the bundle for a downloadable copy as well…

@penduin: It’s not outside of the realm of possibility. I don’t know if Nintendo itself will do that, but I could definitely see GameStop selling it as a bundle. They do already sell some downloadable titles in store.

@Story: Ran across my old controllers just yesterday. Can’t justify buying the new one since I have a full set already. At least the adapter isn’t expensive.
