The Legend of Zelda movie is slated to hit theaters in 2027, but let’s just skip right past that to when it eventually starts streaming. If you were wondering which platform the movie might land on, it has been revealed that Netflix will be the destination. Netflix revealed the news via its website with an announcement about the company’s new partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Netflix Vice President of Licensing and Programming Strategy Lauren Smith says that subscribers to the service will have “exclusive access to Sony’s much loved films” as a result of the partnership.
The Zelda movie is being produced by Nintendo in conjunction with Sony Pictures Entertainment (talk about weird bedfellows), so it will be following under the purview of this arrangement. The Legend of Zelda will come to theaters on May 7, 2027, then will come to home video, and then will land on Netflix. It stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as the titular Princess Zelda. No word yet on plot, who the villain will be, etc., but as we learn more, we’ll be sure to share it with all of you.
