Final Fantasy Tactics is one of those games that has withstood the test of time as being among the best that the industry has to offer. A tactical RPG, it brought the storytelling drama and intrigue that Final Fantasy is known for, but with challenging, absorbing TRPG battles in place of the series’ traditional turn-based fights. Now, Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles is primed to bring players old and new together to experience this beloved adventure in an all-new way. So, what makes The Ivalice Chronicles different from the original? First, there’s an updated translation. Second, it also now boasts voiced dialogue as well as reimagined visuals. Third, the UI has been reimagined for The Ivalice Chronicles, as well. Now, some of you undoubtedly would prefer to play something much closer to the original, but thankfully Square Enix has taken you into consideration—you’ll be able to play a more traditional version of Final Fantasy Tactics if that’s what you wish. And whether you’re into the new or old take on the game, The Ivalice Chronicles will be in your hands soon enough, as it launches on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 30, 2025.
