Color us unsurprised if this turns out to be true, but the rumor mill is a flurry with word that GameCube classic Resident Evil 4 will be getting remade. This information follows the highly successful releases of the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 over the past two years. It would make sense that Capcom might want to keep the momentum going, and returning to one of the biggest games in the series’ history would theoretically do the trick.

The game would allegedly be developed in part by studio M-Two, a new outfit founded by former PlatinumGames head Tatsuya Minami. M-Two would be tackling the project with other members of Capcom’s staff, including team members that previously worked on RE2 and Devil May Cry V. Shinji Mikami, the original director of RE4, was supposedly offered the chance to spearhead the remake but declined, and has given his blessing to M-Two and company.

While the remakes of RE2 and RE3 have yet to see the light of day on Nintendo Switch, with so many other games from the series’ catalogue on offer and the indelible ties to Nintendo that RE4 has… well, one can only hope it might find its way to the hybrid console. In the interim, see what we thought about the HD rerelease of RE4 on Switch and tell us what you think about these rumors in the comments and online!
