Xeno Crisis is an interesting project. The game is being developed by Bitmap Bureau, the studio behind 2D platformer 88 Heroes, and got its start on Kickstarter with the goal of ultimately releasing as a downloadable PC game as well as a physical, working Sega Genesis cartridge or a Dreamcast disc. The campaign easily achieved its $30,000 goal so the developers added a stretch goal for a Switch version, which was also met.
The game is an arena shooter in the same vein as something like Smash TV. To get a better idea of its gameplay and Aliens-inspired style, check out the trailer below:
One has to give credit to Bitmap Bureau’s retro devotion, though the Switch version will likely prove much more practical for most gamers. Of course, an SNES version would have undoubtedly been best!
