Great game case, or greatest game case?

There are few video game systems held in higher regard than the Super Nintendo. The Switch is certainly making an early case for itself, but an upcoming collector’s edition for Flashback will combine the best of old and new.

The Flashback 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition features a number of neat extras for collectors: a digital soundtrack, an instruction manual, an exclusive numbered metal card and, most significantly, a metal case designed to look like a classic SNES cartridge! From the looks of things, it will be similar to the steelbooks previously released for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Bayonetta 2, but there is no confirmation as such, as of this writing.

Flashback released to rave reviews when it initially debuted back in 1992. Since then, the title has appeared on a number of platforms, featuring lots of improvements across the board. The Switch version will allow players to choose between the original version and a new modern mode, which will include a rewind feature, updated graphics and sound and more.

Unfortunately, that terrific collector’s edition appears to be exclusive to Europe at this time. Of course, given the Switch has no region locking, the title can always be imported when it releases June 7. In the meantime, we’ll continue to keep our fingers crossed for a domestic release!
