9: Pokémon Game Boy Micro
No Nintendo series attracts such fond memories from children of the 1990s as Pokémon. It’s always been a particularly handheld-focused series, with most instalments being portable titles rather than full-blown console games. It’s only fitting, therefore, that the Game Boy Micro, which saw the end of the Game Boy line, should wish to commemorate its most popular franchise with a subtle Pikachu silhouette on a black and red design.
Triforce Game Boy Advance SP?! That thing looks amazing, and it’s even the same color as the Wii remote that came with Skyward Sword! But I am quite fond of Minish Cap.
Whaaaat? No Ocarina of Time 3DS!? That thing was beautiful! XD
Well I did consider that one, but I didn’t want to use both the 3DS and the GBA SP because they’re quite similar. I’m also a child of the GBA era and I’m quite nostalgic for it; the simplicity and colour of the Triforce SP really appeals :)
Pretty good list. You could have taken things one step further with the GBA SP Triforce edition and listed the one that Miyamoto signed.
Also, I like the Pikachu 3DS XL, but I think the Charizard 3DS XL that was announced recently for Pokémon Centers in Japan beats it for the awesome factor.
Sadly, I’ve never had the opportunity to own a special edition console.. I always get mine day one :(
I would have put the Zelda 3DS! I was considering selling mine just to get that one!
I know what you mean – I’ve rarely seen any of the items on this list, aside from the N64 which I couldn’t quite afford. They’re best to pick up just after release because they often disappear quickly.
