Sam counts down ten classic games to replay during the slow summer months.

6. Mega Man X

The early Nintendo systems are chock full of great Mega Man titles, but when it comes time to pick one to replay, it has to be Mega Man X. The first in the X spin off series, Mega Man X not only pumped the graphics up to beautiful 16-bits, but took the gameplay to new heights as well. The dash and wall jump allowed Capcom to make bigger, more vertical levels with unique platforming challenges. You still get powers from defeating the robot masters (animal themed this time around) and use them to defeat other masters, exploiting their weaknesses all the way. Don’t forget to look for all of the E-Tanks and Hearts to get 100 percent. Did you ever get the Hadouken? It’s worth it! This game has been remade for many different consoles (even iPhone!), so pick it up on any one you want. I would recommend the Wii U VC version.

Fantastic list and write-ups Sam. I find myself coming back to most of these as well. My personal list would include Super Castlevania IV as well (score another for the SNES!) Like you said, “sadly, there isn’t enough time to replay everything.” Happy Gaming!

Never feel bad about telling people to play Ocarina of Time =) Dawn of Sorrow gave me a chuckle, because every time I see the box art of that game, it makes me think of Konami’s re-release of it. The cover for the re-release was… an image of the original box. Hahaha. That game is freaking awesome, though. All three of the DS Castlevania’s are out of this world. Wonderful list.
