Paramount Making a Movie in the World of Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red is helping produce.

It was only a matter of time before someone in Hollywood stepped up to ruin adapt Cyberpunk 2077. The highly narrative-driven, cinematic action game is ripe for exploration in other mediums, but especially film, and now Paramount is set to do exactly that. Fresh off of the $110 billion dollar acquisition of Warner Bros. by David Ellison, Skydance, which now operates WB, Paramount, and a bunch of other studios, is making good on its promise to produce a whole slew of films in the coming years. Among them will be this adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077, although it will simply be set in the same world and not a direct retelling of the story.

Cyberpunk 2077 came to Nintendo Switch 2 at launch and was an impressive, solid port of the popular game. While Cyberpunk 2077 initially launched in a very rough, buggy state, over the years CD Projekt Red has done an admirable job of getting the game to run well and more in line with the original vision for the project. Set in the fictional Night City, the game follows the characters V and Johnny Silverhand who have been forcefully bonded together. The duo fight to take on the Arasaka Corporation in an effort to separate and save V. How Paramount will choose to handle this adaptation is anyone’s guess, but expect lots of tech, lots of grime, lots of violence, and that signature, bright yellow to all make an appearance.

No word on a release date or even a release window, but once more is announced, we’ll share it with all of you.
