Generic Question Block Poll Masthead Yellow

With last week’s announcement of Lucario, the roster of fighters for the next Super Smash Bros. games has grown to 22. That’s certainly an impressive number as it stands, and it’ll only continue to grow in the months leading up to the games’ launch, especially when you consider all the recurring fighters that Nintendo has yet to unveil (such as Yoshi, Ness, Captain Falcon, and the Ice Climbers).

Among the announced characters, we’ve already seen a handful of Smash newcomers take their place on the roster, including Mega Man, the Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, and the Animal Crossing Villager, but there are still plenty of others who deserve a spot in the games. That brings us to today’s question: What other characters would you like to see in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS? We’ve compiled a small list of potential candidates, many of whom have been drawn from Nintendo’s recent history (plus a couple of obscure faces for good measure). Vote for your favorite in our poll below, and if you’re hoping for someone not on our list, then be sure to tell us your choice in the comments!

I didn’t include him in the list, but Captain Rainbow clearly deserves to be in the games more than anyone else.

Any and all of these would be welcome additions to the roster! I have to go with Shulk though. Not that Smash necessarily needs any more sword-swinging heroes, but come on, even the master sword has to be jealous of the monado. Jedi light sabers wear monado PJs. ;^)

A fighter with time-bending abilities would really mix things up. I don’t know if it would work to let him actually pause and rewind the action a bit, or if they’d have to represent his abilities some other way, but I’d love to see what the Smash team would come up with!

I picked Waluigi for the awesome possibility of a Mario/Luigi vs Wario/Waluigi team match-up. Layton was a close second though.

I’m optimistic that we’ll at least get a few of these characters as new additions. In other posts it’s been mentioned that Pac-Man has a pretty decent chance. Dixie Kong has the benefit of being in the data for Brawl as a cut character. Sakurai mentioned that Mewtwo was being considered a while back (not sure how Lucario’s return affects his chances though).

The Mii seems like a logical choice, seeing as Nintendo has chosen to use them as mascots for their two most recent consoles. It’s debatable whether or not the ring used in many of the screenshots from the new game relates to Punch-Out or not, but I would hope that Little Mac gets a shot.

If I had to place a bet on the next newcomer to be revealed, it would be Dixie Kong. I think there will be a Nintendo Direct before the release of Tropical Freeze, and it would be good timing for the reveal. They might just confirm Diddy’s return though, so who knows.

I voted Shulk, although I really like the Isa/Kachi suggestion. My biggest hope is that Daisy makes it, even if it is just as a costume-swap for Peach. And my never-going-to-happen pick is Jill from Drill Dozer.

Good to see I’m not the only StarTropics fan here.

    There’s like, two others! :D

Oh, I bet plenty of us are StarTropics fans. If it weren’t for the pesky overwhelming allure of Xenoblade’s hero (or Toadlord’s awesome point about an epic Mario/Luigi/Wario/Waluigi match) I might have cast my vote to good ol’ Mike myself. :^)

As I mentioned before, there are a number of sword-wielders in Smash; there should be several who use a yo-yo to attack too!
