Yoshi’s New Island may have just released on Friday, but the 3DS title has already made a strong first impression across the pond. The game placed 12th on Europe’s all-format charts, and 10th overall on the single-format charts. The showing is all the more impressive considering that highly anticipated titles like Titanfall and Dark Souls II also debuted earlier in the week.

The most interesting story on the charts, however, continues to be the strong performance of Warner Bros. Interactive’s LEGO games. No doubt bolstered by the massive box office success of the film, The LEGO Movie Videogame has held strong at number four on the all-format charts. Meanwhile LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, a title that’s been available since September, has placed at number 13, just below Yoshi’s debut.

Speaking of games that have stayed strong on the charts, Pokémon Y and X continue to show their amazing resilience. The twin titles placed at numbers 30 and 35, respectively. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has managed to cling to the top 40, but just barely at 39th place. The game is the highest placing Wii U exclusive on the list.

It’s always important to remember that the UK charts only account for weekly sales, as opposed to the monthly tracking we see in other territories. Stay tuned to Nintendojo where we’ll have more information on how Yoshi’s New Island is performing in the coming weeks!
