Fans looking forward to Yooka-Laylee will have to wait a bit longer than expected. The title was initially scheduled for release this October, but Playtonic Games announced this morning that the game has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2017. Fortunately, the developer softened that news with the release of an all-new trailer, which we’ve embedded below!
The trailer showcases some excellent new gameplay footage. The worlds highlighted in the trailer look sharp and varied, and we can get a better feel for how the title’s protagonists will control. In addition to Yooka and Laylee, we also get a new glimpse at previously announced characters Trowzer and Rextro Sixtyfourus. And there’s even a nice glimpse at some of the game’s mine cart segments, inspired by a certain popular Super Nintendo franchise!
While the game’s delay is certainly disheartening, it looks like Yooka-Laylee is shaping up to be exactly what fans of Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country have been waiting for. What do you think of the new trailer? Let us know in the comments below!

Well this certainly looks like it’s coming along nicely. I’m definitely looking forward to playing around in that ice world already.
Definitely a shame on the delay, though. I was hoping to play it on Wii U this year. I think an NX announcement is probably inevitable, too.
