The massive success of Pokémon X and Y continues on, unabated. According to a recent press release from The Pokémon Company, the titles, which were recently celebrated as the fastest selling games ever on the Nintendo 3DS, have now reached a cumulative 12 million units sold. Nintendo’s last official figure came in January, when the company announced that the titles had moved 11.6 million units, meaning that 400,000 copies have been sold in just the last few months. That figure is even more impressive considering that this is typically a slow period for game sales.

Nearly 245 million Pokémon games have been sold worldwide since the series’ inception. The previous games in the series, Pokémon Black and White, have sold a combined 15.4 million units to date. It will be interesting to see if X and Y can surpass that number. Considering what the pair of titles has managed since October, it certainly seems like a safe bet.
