Update: On a bit of an anti-climactic note, CoroCoro Magazine has revealed that the “world shocking” Splatoon 2 news they teased is… new spy-inspired clothing for the game. While the threads certainly look snazzy to say the least, world shocking seems to be a bit of an overstatement! The June 15 issue of CoroCoro will have details on how the new threads can be obtained. When the original Splatoon arrived on Wii U, Nintendo surprised players around the world with a new IP complete with addictive and deep gameplay. In just a few short weeks, the company apparently aims to shock the world again with a major Splatoon-related announcement on June 9.
The teaser comes courtesy of this week’s issue of Japan’s Jump magazine. Few additional details have been revealed as of this writing, though it is notable that June 9 is just a couple of days before E3’s big Splatoon 2 tournament.
While Splatoon fans will no doubt await the announcement with bated breath, players looking to kill some time can take part in Splatoon 2‘s current Splatfest tournament. Last week’s Splatfest ended with a victory for Team Raphael, while this week’s competition will pit “party dude” Michelangelo against team technician Donatello to see which turtle will face Raph in the finale!
