Some people might have been critical of Splatoon for its relatively small amount of content available at launch, but no one can deny that Nintendo has done a great job of supporting the game with a steady flow of new content. Tomorrow, that flow will continue with something a bit more substantial than a few new guns: a whole new mode.
Tower Control will be added as a ranked battle mode starting tomorrow, July 1, at 7 PM Pacific Time. The goal of Tower Control is to jump onto a tower in the center of the level in order to claim it for your team. Once you are in control, the tower will move toward the enemy’s goal so long as you or your teammates are riding on it. If nobody gets the tower to the goal, whoever gets to it closest when the clock winds down will claim the victory.
Players were able to get a preview of Tower Control today thanks to Nintendo’s Treehouse, who showed off the new mode on Nintendo’s Twitch channel. If you missed the stream, you can watch the “fact finding mission” at the company’s YouTube channel.
