Koch Media, a publisher and distributor owned by THQ Nordic, recently announced that it has acquired the rights to the time-jumping FPS series, Timesplitters, from Crytek.

Koch Media’s CEO, Klemens Kundratitz, had this to say on what the acquisition could mean for the franchise:

We are hugely excited to have acquired Timesplitters. The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience. We have many fans of the Timesplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill today’s gaming audience.

While this is by no means confirmation that a new entry is coming, it’s a strong indicator that a new Timesplitters game (whatever form that takes) is  on the horizon.

The first three Timesplitters games were developed by Free Radical Design and published by Eidos Interactive and Electronic Arts respectively. While Free Radical Design was previously acquired by Crytek in 2009, it was unfortunately shut down in 2014.

Nothing happened with the franchise while it was owned by Crytek, so it will be interesting to see what this acquisition leads to. Interestingly, Koch Media also acquired the rights to Second Sight, another game developed by Free Radical Design.

Do you want another Timesplitters game or should the series remain lost to… time? Let us know in the comments.
