Back in August, we reported on a new Pokémon set to make its debut in the anime film Pokémon XY: The Movie. The “green blob” Pokémon had been mysteriously teased in CoroCoro magazine. Today, The Pokémon Company officially unveiled the identity of the pocket monster and it’s… not quite what we were expecting! It turns out that it’s not technically a new Pokémon at all, but rather a new forme for the legendary Pokémon Zygarde!

Zygarde made its debut in Pokémon X and Y. As it turns out, this was not the legendary Pokémon’s complete forme. Rather, the Zygarde we are familiar with is at 50% strength. Zygarde is made up of individual cells, which make up a core (the “green blob”). When Zygarde gathers 10% of the cells needed, it takes on a form that looks a bit like a Houndoom. At 100%, Zygarde gets a forme far more powerful than what we’ve yet seen! We’ve mirrored some pictures below!

These new formes are set to appear not only in Pokémon XY: The Movie, but also in the anime’s new season, which has been apparently dubbed Pokemon X, Y & Z. Could a third version of Pokémon X and Y be on the way, featuring Zygarde’s new form on the cover? Seems like a bit too much of a coincidence! That isn’t the only interesting new reveal, however. A new forme for Greninja has also been revealed! It appears that Ash’s Greninja has now gained an appearance similar to the clothes Ash wears in the anime! Since clothing customization played such a major role in Pokémon X and Y, perhaps this could be a new feature in Pokémon Z! Check out the image below and judge for yourself!
