Still riding high off its announcement that Bravely Default has shipped over a million units worldwide, Square Enix is obviously looking to keep the momentum for the young series going, as the publisher has announced more details about the upcoming sequel. Through the game’s Japanese website, the company has shared more about the world and characters of Bravely Second.

First, we have learned more about how one of the original games protagonists, Agnes Oblige, will play into the sequel. After having helped with the usual RPG fare of saving the world, Agnes leads the Crystal Orthodoxy church as it rebuilds while also trying to bring peace to the world of Luxendarc as a whole. Her attempts appear to be successful as she has drawn the world together for the monumental signing of a peace agreement; however, the celebration is cut short when she is kidnapped. No doubt this will prove to be a major event in the game.

In terms of new characters, Square Enix has shown off more of Magnolia Arch, a character actually teased in a special ending in the first game. While we don’t necessarily know more about the character in terms of who she is or the role she will play, we do at least know what she will look like for four of the classes. From left to right, we have Magnolia as a Valkyrie, a Performer, a Time Mage, and a Red Mage.

Finally, we have been given a look at the city of Gathlatio, which serves as the capital of the Crystal Orthodoxy as well as the home of restored defenders of the church, the Orthodoxy Knights. The city is also described as sitting on the road to the Temple of Earth and, as you can probably tell by the grandeur of the image below, it is apparently quite affluent.

More detail will likely be shared as the game moves along in its development, so if you enjoyed the original be sure to be on the lookout for more information.
