The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword masthead E3Link’s first MotionPlus adventure didn’t feature nearly as prominently as it did at Nintendo’s E3 presser last year but we still got a few intriguing details about the game during Shigeru Miyamoto’s talk on the series’ 25th anniversary. Following an orchestral arrangement of some of the franchise’s most iconic sounds and music, a video montage of Link’s many adventures played and included some brand new footage of Skyward Sword.

If you thought the impressionist aesthetic of the game was a hark back to Wind Waker then you’re on the right track because early scenes from the games picturing Link in a pair of fetching pyjamas and flying through the sky on a flame red bird with an unknown female character (she didn’t look like a sword) create even more connections the Hero of Time’s sea faring adventure.

Before he left the stage, Miyamoto also reconfirmed that the game would release this year as part of The Legend of Zelda’s 25th anniversary year and is still coming to Wii, not Wii U. Other events and surprises, ranging from a free download of Four Swords for 3DS and DSi and a series of worldwide Zelda symphony concerts to exclusive soundtracks were also announced.
