As the prevalence of digital downloads continues to grow, some gamers are becoming more and more concerned about the safety of these purchases. Is the convenience of downloading retail games worth it if it means there’s a chance the game could be lost if the system requires repairs?
Wii U owners can breathe a sigh of relief as Nintendo has confirmed to Kotaku that Network IDs can be transferred between consoles in circumstances where a system replacement is required. Doing so, however, will require Nintendo’s direct involvement, likely a call to NOA customer service.
This news also seems to confirm that this is the only way to transfer save data. For those Wii U owners hoping to use their save data on a friend’s console, there still appears to be no current option available.
