Here we go again with the NX rumors! A new source who claims to have access to NX dev kits has come forward with some additional details about the hardware. This source claims that the console is indeed a handheld-console hybrid as was claimed previously. The dev kit is “slightly thicker than the Nintendo 3DS XL when folded, so 25 mm, with a width of around 281 mm and a height of 92 mm with the controllers attached.” Something like the image below.

The buttons on either side supposedly detach, which was another NX rumor going around recently. New from this source is the claim that the controller will have a split D-pad similar to those found on every PlayStation console. This would be a departure from the solid D-Pad that Nintendo originally patented, the design it has been using since the days of NES.

Another new claim is that NX will feature a share button which functions much like the same button on PlayStation 4. It will allow players to upload content from games straight to Miiverse, YouTube, and other social media websites.

Even if these rumors are true, dev kits often do not reflect the final design that the is released to the general public. I’m hoping that Nintendo will go ahead and officially reveal the NX soon, because all these rumors are driving me crazy.

September HAS to be the month Nintendo unveils this thing, right? We’re 6 months from launch now. Time to let the consumers know what they should be saving for.
