Rumor: Mario Kart 8 DLC Tracks Revealed?

Update: A GameFAQs user has taken credit for making the listings up. If we hear anything different, we’ll continue to update. For now, assume that this is just someone having fun with Nintendo fans.

When Nintendo’s first paid DLC pack for Mario Kart 8 appeared on the Wii U eShop last fall, a handful of older tracks returned in high definition. We’ve known all along that the second DLC pack would offer a similar mix of old and new material, but we haven’t known exactly what to expect. That could have changed, however, thanks to some game coding supposedly unearthed by a user on Neogaf. We’ve mirrored their supposed findings below!

    3DS_NEOBOWSERCITY = 3DS Neo Bowser City
    GC_BABYPARK = GCN Baby Park
    WU_ANIMAL = Animal Crossing
    WU_METRO = ?
    WU_WOODS = ?

If we’re to assume the list is the real deal, Baby Park from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Neo Bowser City from Mario Kart 7 will be added to the track lineup next week. Baby Park has often been considered one of the best tracks from the GameCube classic. With its ovular shape, it places a large emphasis on drifting, and not much else.

The other two tracks are less cut and dry. Woods would seem to imply a forested area, while Metro would likely imply something city-based. However, given that the previous DLC featured tracks based on F-Zero and Excitebike it’s not unfathomable that these could be based on other Nintendo franchises. Perhaps Metro is Metroid and Woods could be Whispy Woods from the Kirby franchise!

It’s all conjecture at this point, but speculating is fun until we get some confirmation when the DLC pack releases on April 23! Let us know what you think in the comments below!

    Kinda glad this isn’t real; I never liked Baby Park. Mario Kart isn’t Mario Party – there should be something you can do to influence the outcome of the race.

    Yes, the game will rob you of victory sometimes, but I always felt like Baby Park crossed the line from Kart’s skill+luck mixture into Party’s complete chaos.

    …But, KisakiProject has a good point. I’m eager to play even the most gimmicky/obnoxious courses at 200cc. :^)

    And I had thought I was the only one who didn’t like Baby Park. Nice to know there are others.

    I too am glad the “leak” was a fake, but based on Baby Park’s popularity, I feel there’s a strong shot at its inclusion nonetheless.

    I can’t complain. Mario Kart 8 has exceeded my expectations in every way possible (except for battle mode).

    Anyone else want dual karts to make a comeback? Double Dash was the first Mario Kart I really got into, and I have a strong fondness for those dual karts, as a result. Diddy in the front, Paratrooper in the back!

    This being fake bummed me out…New Bowser City would’ve been incredible in HD and I’d love to see the potential of 200cc Baby Park.

    Well, Baby Park is in after all, it seems! Without Double Dash’s way-too-damn-many items, maybe it will be more fun. Half the course being hover mode is a neat twist too – crowded bumper kart mayhem, here we come!

    But the real news… Big Blue!! Worth the price of admission right there. My favorite F-Zero courses (and music), morphed into another amazing Kart 8 track. Pair this with 200cc and it should ease some of the pain of Nintendo refusing to develop a new F-Zero. :^)
