Goldeneye gets Golden Classic Controller Bundle

Ever since Goldeneye was announced for Wii, rumors have persisted about a golden controller also being released. Speculation initially focused on a golden gun shaped cradle for the Wii Remote, but it turns out it will actually be a golden version of the recently released Classic Controller Pro, as we reported in a  previous video round-up. The game and controller will be available together as the Goldeneye 007 Classic Edition and cost $69.99. It has not been announced whether the golden controller will be available by itself or if it will only be available in the bundle.

360 Beats Nintendo in July Hardware Sales

July’s NPD numbers have been revealed for July, and while software sales are down eight percent from last year, hardware sales are up 12 percent due to the boost caused by the new, slimmer Xbox 360, which topped the list with 443,500 units sold. Nintendo took the second and third spots as DS sold 398,400 units and Wii sold 253,900 units.

In terms of console software, NCAA Football 11 for 360 and PS3 took the first and second spots respectively and Crackdown 2 finished in third, but Nintendo still had a strong showing. Super Mario Galaxy 2 took fourth place while New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Dragon Quest IX, and Lego Harry Potter for both Wii and DS also finished in the top 10.

Goldeneye 007 “Classic Edition”… Probably just means it’s bundled with the classic controller, but I’m hoping against hope that maybe it contains a virtual console copy of the original too.

…What? A man can dream, can’t he? :^) It would definitely make the inclusion of a classic controller rather than a zapper-type shell make more sense.
