Nintendo at the Pre-TGS Nintendo 3DS Conference

Monster Hunter 4, new Squenix RPG among many new 3DS games.

Boy, did Nintendo announce a lot of stuff last night at its 3DS press conference, conveniently placed right before Tokyo Game Show begins. Since we’ll have a roundtable later on to discuss and analyze all this wonderful (and sometimes confusing) news, we’re gonna just list everything here with the help of our friendly neighborhood bullet points. Watch for ’em!

3DS Hardware News

  • Firmware update rolling out in November, an update enabling 3D video capture and “new experiences” in StreetPass Mii Plaza
  • Slide Pad add-on coming to Japan on December 10, costing ¥1,500 (US$19.00)
  • Games to support Slide Pad: Monster Hunter tri G, Resident Evil Revelations, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors VS, Kingdom Hearts 3D (Dream Drop Distance)
  • New color for Japanese: “Misty Pink”

Capcom’s latest monster-killin’ game heads to 3DS, minus The Claw.

New 3DS Games Announced

  • Monster Hunter 4
  • Fire Emblem
  • Mario Tennis
  • Tomodachi Collection (probably JPN-exclusive sequel to same-titled original on DS)
  • Bravely Default: Flying Fairy (a Square-Enix RPG)
  • Hatsune Miku: Project mirai (a SEGA rhythm game based on a Nendoroid version of Hatsune Miku)

Skyward Sword Reminders

  • September 28, 2011 – February. 20, 2012: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords available for download on DSiWare or eShop
  • October 3, 2011 – February 20, 2012: Limited-edition Zelda-themed eShop and Nintendo Points cards available at select retailers
