Nintendo has released new numbers for Pokémon X and Y, and they are quite impressive. Nintendo 3DS sales spiked 135% as the titles sold more than two million units in the US last month. Even more impressive is the fact that one million of those sales came on the first day of release. Comparatively, Mario Kart 7 is now the second fastest 3DS title to hit one million units, and that took four weeks. Maybe Pikachu should be a playable character in the next title. He might make Mario look like Slowpoke!
Pokémon X and Y are in good company when it comes to swift sales. They are the ninth titles in the Pokémon series to sell over a million copies in their first month. One in every five 3DS owners has a copy, with that number potentially growing as Christmas approaches. Several of those sales were digital, as well. The games have taken the crown for best-selling titles in the history of the 3DS eShop.
With all of that information at hand, one has to ask: is there anyone that comes to this website who doesn’t own Pokémon X or Y yet? Let us know in the comments below!
