If your favorite games include Pikmin and Metroid Prime: Hunters then it might be time to bust out the party hats! According to a recent article over at Polygon, Masamichi Abe, who in addition to the aforementioned titles helped develop Mario VS. Donkey Kong and contributed heavily to Tekken 2, may be at work on an original property for Nintendo.
The rumor, which sprouted from a post by Tekken lead Katsuhiro Harada on Twitter, is encouraging news for those of us who were worried about a dearth of original titles on Nintendo’s platforms. Let’s just hope that whatever it is, it’s coming to Wii U, as that console could definitely benefit from a title directed by a developer of Abe’s pedigree.

The Pikmin games have been some of my favorite titles of all time. Any new IP coming out of Nintendo is something to celebrate, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about it.
