The origins of fantasy.

Final Fantasy Explorers will be released in Japan on December 18, which also happens to be the anniversary of the first Final Fantasy game. To celebrate this meaningful date, a download code of Final Fantasy I will be available as a first print bonus for purchasers of the upcoming 3DS game.

The 3DS port will feature remastered art (by the looks of it, from the previous re-release) and supports stereoscopic 3D. Those who won’t be getting Final Fantasy Explorers can purchase the game separately on Nintendo eShop in January 2015, although a price hasn’t been announced yet.

Would you like to see the original Final Fantasy also be released on 3DS in the West? Let us know in the comments!

Nice! I really wish they’d give FF6 this kind of love, but the original Final Fantasy is worth at least another playthrough. Explorers looks just interesting and has me on the fence; an offer like this sweetens the deal enough that I’d go for it. :^)

I’ve only played the original release of FF1 (which I enjoyed several years ago) so I would pick it up in a heart beat. Explorers looks like a game that will sit un-played for years on my shelf, so that will get a pass.
