Well, now if this isn’t quite the pleasant surprise! There are a number of fun releases this week on both the home and handheld console fronts for Nintendo fans. We have plenty of games to get to, so let’s cut right to this week’s batch of eShop goodies!

Wii U eShop

Tadpole Treble – $9.99 – It’s been a long time since we previewed Tadpole Treble (which we enjoyed at the time), but thankfully the Kickstarter project has finally arrived on the Wii U eShop. From the creator of the Brawl in the Family comic, Tadpole Treble boasts a gorgeous aesthetic and a unique mix of auto-runner and rhythm gameplay mechanics.

Wii U Virtual Console

Wave Race 64 – $9.99 – Wave Race as a series hasn’t been seen in quite a long time, so it’s with great pleasure that we can report that fans are finally getting a chance to play this classic Nintendo 64 installment on Wii U! Easily one of the best racing games of the N64 era, Wave Race 64 offers creative course design, a great soundtrack, and an unforgettably obnoxious announcer that has to be heard to be believed.

Mario Sports Mix – $19.99 – It’s not as good as Wii Sports, but Mario Sports Mix is nonetheless an entertaining anthology sports title worth checking out!

3DS eShop

Ambition of the Slimes – $5.00 – This is an interesting subversion of RPG standards, as players are cast as some of the weakest enemies of the genre rather than the hero! Dragon Quest fans especially might get a kick out of this role reversal.

New 3DS Virtual Console

Mega Man X – $7.99 – Easily the best entry in the series, not to mention an outright classic game in and of itself, Mega Man X has officially gone portable on New 3DS! The number of excellent SNES titles available for New 3DS continues to grow and impress; be sure to give this one a look, especially if you’ve enjoyed titles like Gunvolt in recent years.

That’s it for this week! What do you plan to download?
