Goemon leads the way in this week’s lineup of new eShop releases!

It’s somewhat slim pickings this week, as neither the Wii U nor 3DS eShops have provided a ton of software worth swooning over. That said, there is always a gem or two to be found if one searches hard enough, and as luck would have it, Nintendojo did just that! Read on for this week’s download highlights!

Wii Virtual Console

Flying Dragons: The Secret Scroll – $4.99

Baseball Simulator 1000 – $4.99 – A couple of old-school titles from Culture Brain (who here is old enough to remember that developer?!) have hit Wii U’s Virtual Console, and though they might not be the most classic of games, they’re both a couple of fascinating retro throwbacks worth investigating. Flying Dragons is a platformer/brawler with rough edges, but is worth a look for its unique split level structure that’s half platforming/brawling and half tournament-style matches. Baseball Simulator 1000, on the other hand, is an early stab at a sports simulation title on a home console. The games are arguably too ambitious for their own good, but again, decide for yourself, especially if you have a retro itch!

New 3DS Virtual Console

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja – $7.99 – Konami’s Mystical Ninja Goemon is a longtime figure of the video game world, and though his adventures aren’t always the best, this is one of his finest moments. An SNES classic, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja is a must-have for adventure and retro game fans, especially. It’s worth the price of admission to soak in the game’s gorgeous graphics, alone! Beneath that stunning exterior, however, lies precision gameplay and a fun, whimsical story.

That’s it for this week! What will you be downloading?

Oh hey, Goemon! I would love to see his N64 title(s) put on Wii U virtual console at some point, but after getting Super Mario RPG last week that might be asking too much.
