A brand new month brings a brand new set of downloads available from the Nintendo eShop now, and what a great start to October! If you are one of those who are feeling a little low now summer is over, then get ready to turn that frown upside down, as the long awaited spiritual successor to the Sonic games has finally been released. If that isn’t reason enough to be heading over to the eShop right now, then maybe another 3D creation tool game, a BMX inspired stunt title, and a whole bunch of discounts are also waiting for you. Quick! Go, go!

Wii U eShop

  • Freedom Planet – $14.99 – Despite a last minute delay a few months back Wii U owners can finally get their hands on the Sonic inspired action platformer, made possible from its successful Kickstarter campaign. Despite its similarities to the spikey blue hedgehog’s 2D outings, the creators have gone to great lengths in trying to make something new and exciting in a bid to produce a title that can stand proud on its own two feet and not in a hedgehog-shaped shadow. Let’s hope it can deliver on its promises.
  • Pumped BMX+ – $7.99 – Following in the footsteps of its smartphone equivalent Pumped BMX 2, this little stunt racer is in the same vein as games such as Trials and Joe Danger, pitting you against a number of courses to traverse whilst looking as cool as possible.
  • Toto Temple Deluxe – $9.99 – I don’t know what it is about goats and video games but it seems the two keep coming together and creating some unlikely hits. Whilst this is no Goat Simulator, the game does offer some frantic goat multiplayer action involving you and three friends, each trying to keep hold of the four legged grass eater for a long as possible as others try to steal it. Crazy!
  • The Rivers of Alice: Extended Version – $7.99
  • VoxelMaker – $4.99
  • Gemology – $6.99

Wii U Virtual Console

  • River City Ransom – $4.99 – Okay, so the storyline has been done a million times before, but a classic 2D side scrolling beat-’em-up with RPG elements from the NES era is not something you see every day. I loved the original and hope its port onto Wii U is equally as satisfying

3DS eShop

  • Chronos Arc – $9.99

  • Citizens of Earth – Discounted until October 19
  • Puzzle Monkeys – $0.99 until October 22 (normally $2.99)
  • Zumba Fitness: World Party – $9.99 until October 12 (normally $29.99)

  • Pixel Slime You – $2 until October 14 (normally $2.99)
  • Vector Assault – $3.99 from October 5 until October 30 (normally $4.99)
  • Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones – Now $9.99 (was $14.99)
