Perhaps the biggest release this week is Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition for 3DS, a game I truly hope will not be overlooked. The mechanics in the Puzzle & Dragons series look deceptively simple and may seem like a typical match-three puzzler. However, there’s actually a ton of traditional JRPG strategy in these games that requires you to think about the elemental units you will use in battle, use special moves effectively, and create the best combos to maximize damage and healing. If turn-based combat and puzzle games excite you, then do not hesitate to pick this one up. You’ll also get Puzzle & Dragons Z for free with every purchase!

This is also a pretty good week for indie games, as Swords & Soldiers II has finally made its way to Wii U. The first Swords & Soldiers offered fantastic real-time strategy gameplay on a 2D plane and was hilarious to boot, earning it a solid B+ in our review. With the release of Swords & Soldiers II, it looks like developer Ronimo Games was able to deliver the same enjoyable experience on a much higher budget. There’s also a few indie discounts that you consider as well, such as Yumi’s Odd Odyssey (3DS), Retro City Rampage: DX (3DS), and Master Reboot (Wii U).

Personally, I quickly jumped on that Retro City Rampage: DX discount after seeing it was only $4.99 this week. Did you find anything that interests you? Let us know in the comments!

    Toadlord says...

One more week of Mega May. I wonder if we’ll get anything of note in the weeks between May and E3, or if they’ll just put out a couple forgotten NES games before announcing a new wave of DS, GBA, or N64 titles.
