We’ve all read the headlines: Nintendo Switch is selling like hotcakes and breaking all kinds of sales records. Well, expect more headlines, because the Switch isn’t showing any signs of slowing down as it continues to steamroll sales records.

French outlet Le Figaro has reported that 911,000 Switch units were sold in France in 2017, outselling the 832,000 Wii U consoles sold in the country throughout the Wii U’s lifetime. Nintendo Italy also announced that the Switch has become the fastest selling console of all time in the region, which Nintendo Italy’s general manager, Andrea Persegati, attributes to the platform’s library of software that has really connected with Italian consumers.

Switch sales even boosted GameStop’s holiday sales — the company recently reported results for its nine-week holiday period ended December 30, showing sales up 10.6% year-over-year to $2.77 billion. Switch (and Xbox One X) drove hardware sales up 38%, while new game sales rose 7.3% year-over-year, attributable to Call of Duty: World War II and Switch titles. The Switch was also responsible for driving accessory sales, which jumped 33.7% over last year’s holiday season.

The Nintendo Switch is a special little console and I think it’s safe to say that we can expect many more great things in its future.
