Following another leak from CoroCoro Magazine, Nintendo has unveiled several more new Pokémon from Pokémon X and Y, which will be launching around the world in a little less than a month.

Most notably, the company has revealed the first evolutionary form for each of the games’ three starting Pokémon, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie, along with a few details on each monster:

  • Chespin evolves into Quilladin, the Spiny Armor Pokémon. Quilladin’s spines are much sturdier than Chespin’s, making it the most defensive of the new starting Pokémon. It can also learn the Ground-type attack Mud Shot.
  • Fennekin evolves into Braixen, the Fox Pokémon. Braixen can learn the Psychic-type attack Psyshock.
  • Froakie evolves into Frogadier, the Bubble Frog Pokémon. In addition to being able to leap higher than its predecessor, Frogadier can also learn the Flying-type attack Bounce.

Nintendo has also unveiled several other Pokémon that players will encounter throughout the course of their journey, including two new Mega Evolutions:

  • Mewtwo will be receiving a second Mega Evolution, dubbed Mega Mewtwo X. Unlike its previously revealed form (which is now referred to as Mega Mewtwo Y, and will only be available in the corresponding title), Mega Mewtwo X is a Psychic/Fighting-type that can only be obtained in Pokémon X. It also gains the Steadfast ability upon Mega Evolving, and can learn Giga Impact.
  • Garchomp will also be receiving a Mega Evolution in Pokémon X and Y. Unlike its regular form, Mega Garchomp will have the Sand Force ability, improving its strength in a sandstorm.
  • The previously announced Litleo will evolve into the Fire-type lion Pyroar. Pyroar has a different appearance depending on its gender, and can gain either Rivalry or Unnerve as its abilities.
  • There is a new Psychic-type cat Pokémon called Meowstic. Like Pyroar, Meowstic also has a different appearance and role depending on its gender; male Meowstic are more apt at using supporting moves such as Miracle Eye, while female Meowstic are better suited to launching direct attacks like Extrasensory.
  • The mysterious Pokémon spotted briefly during Japan’s Pokémon Direct broadcast is Furfrou, a new Poodle Pokémon. Players can groom Furfrou’s fur into a number of different styles, thereby changing its appearance. Furfrou also has a new ability called Fur Coat, which decreases all physical damage by half.
  • X and Y’s two new Fossil Pokémon are Tyrunt and Amaura. Tyrunt is a small, tyrannosaurus-like Rock/Dragon Pokémon that has the Strong Jaw ability (which improves the strength of biting attacks such as Crunch), and can learn Dragon Tail; Amaura is a Rock/Ice-type Pokémon that has Refrigerate (a new ability that turns all Normal-type attacks into Ice ones), and can learn Aurora Beam.

Lastly, the company has released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming titles, highlighting the above Pokémon and several new features, such as the ability the change your avatar’s outfit throughout the adventure. The trailer can be seen below.
