3DS fans, particularly those in Japan, got a surprise treat earlier today, when Nintendo announced two new titles for the 3DS eShop: The Denpa Men 3 and Photography with Chibi-Robo, both of which will be hitting the service in Japan this summer.

Unlike past installments of the series, Photography with Chibi-Robo integrates AR functionality with the traditional Chibi-Robo gameplay. Rather than cleaning up after a lovable– if slovenly– family, players will instead be tasked with gathering “nostal-junk” for a special nostalgia exhibit at a museum. To do so, they’ll have to match up a silhouette of the item with its corresponding real-world object and snap a picture using the 3DS camera, which will then cause Chibi-Robo to humorously pop out of the screen and add that item to your collection.

Photography with Chibi-Robo is available today in the 3DS eShop and retails for 1,500 yen, while The Denpa Men 3 will be released on August 7. There’s no word on if either game will make its way stateside, but given the fact that they’re both downloadable titles (not to mention the recent release of The Denpa Men 2), we’d say it’s only a matter of time.

What do you think of the new Chibi-Robo title? Would you be interested in downloading it if it came to North America? Let us know in the comments!
