After the rousing success of Nintendo and Koei Tecmo’s first Warriors crossover, the Legend of Zelda-inspired Hyrule Warriors, the two developers are teaming up once again for a new Muso spin-off, this time based on the Fire Emblem series.

As far as teasers go, the first trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors is disappointingly brief, featuring only a short clip of Chrom drawing the Falchion. Still, despite the current dearth of information available on the title, Fire Emblem Warriors is one of the most exciting announcements to come out of last night’s Switch presentation thanks to its sheer potential. With such a long and rich history to draw from, Fire Emblem is the perfect Nintendo series to receive the Warriors treatment, and its emphasis on medieval fantasy warfare lends itself well to Warriors’ large-scale battles.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too much longer for some more details on Fire Emblem Warriors— Nintendo announced during today’s Treehouse: Live broadcast that a special Fire Emblem Direct will be airing next week on January 18 at 2 PM PST.
