Publisher XSEED has declared its intentions to launch Pandora’s Tower, the last of the Operation Rainfall games, on April 16 in North America. Originally brought out in Japan in late 2011 and debuting in Europe a few months later, the Wii RPG will retail for the relatively low price of $39.99 and, unlike its worldwide editions, will not be published by Nintendo.
Pandora’s Tower follows the trials of a young man tasked with slaying twelve enormous beasts in order to free his lover from the yoke of a tragic curse. It was originally planned to be Japan-only, but due to the actions of campaigners it has now been released in all major territories.
Operation Rainfall was a grassroots Internet movement begun with the intention of having three games released in North America– namely, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower. It succeeded spectacularly after an initial rebuffing from Nintendo of America, and the former two games were released last year– Pandora’s Tower is the only one that yet remains.

This seems a bit of an afterthought after Xenoblade and The Last Story, and I don’t imagine it will sell well, especially now that Wii is largely dormant. Still, it’s good news and one more validation of Operation Rainfall’s work.
