Despite Wii U’s recent sales woes in the UK, last week was a stellar one for the console, with hardware sales rising by nearly 125 percent according to MCV.
This dramatic jump was no doubt spurred by the newly released Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which debuted in the UK top ten last week. The sales spike has also been attributed to the recent price cut by retailer HMV, which reduced the cost of the Deluxe Wii U bundle to £199.99 (and includes a free copy of ZombiU).
It remains to be seen if Wii U can sustain this momentum in the coming weeks, but this is certainly a good sign for Nintendo’s newest home console, which has been struggling to find an audience after its November launch. Who’d have thought hardware sales would rise once new software was released?
