So, there’s a console HD release of Resident Evil: Revelations coming soon. However, it seems that none of the updates and modes are coming to Nintendo 3DS, as downloadable add-ons or a new release.
Some of the features being added to RE: Revelations include a new difficulty level and new raid mode features. There’s also an entirely new character being added to raid mode, Rachel, a woman who desperately needs to zip up her jacket and get her hair out of her face if she has any hopes of surviving. None of these features are coming to 3DS, as revealed on the Capcom Unity forum, where Christian Svensson from Capcom addressed a question:
“Sorry guys, but there are no planned updates for the 3DS version of Revelations. We’ve added a fair amount of new content to the new edition which is fairly common to do.”
So basically, go buy the whole video game again if you want the new features.

In all fairness, you can’t blame them. The whole point of the port is for Capcom to sell the game to a larger audience. Why sacrifice potential sales?
Yeah, I don’t think anyone really expected the 3DS version to be updated, but there’s the confirmation nonetheless!
Why can’t Nintendo fans have high expectations too?
People expected Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge to be available as an update for the PS360 after Nintendo published it for the WiiU. They got it as a full new release with additional content that was aslo made available on the Wii U version via an update.
I don’t think it’s completely out of the question to see not only an update to give Resident Evil: Revelations parity with the content of the consoles, but also to add the save transfer feature and Crossplay for Raid mode to play on both the 3DS and Wii U together.
Certainly a good point! But like you said with Ninja Gaiden, the new Wii U content was repackaged as a separate version, so fans had to purchase the game again. I suppose Capcom could have done the same with Revelations, but I didn’t think it seemed very likely since it would have to rework the features for 3DS. But you never know, it could still happen down the line!
