Reports have been circulating around the Internet that Junction Point, the developer of Epic Mickey and its followup, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, is going to be shut down in as little as seven days.

While the report is still unconfirmed at this point, it seems likely considering how poorly Epic Mickey 2 performed at retail; according to the LA Times, the game was only able to muster up roughly 270,000 sales across all platforms in its first month. By contrast, the original Epic Mickey, which was released exclusively on Wii, sold 1.3 million copies in the same time frame. It certainly didn’t help that the game was greeted with middling reviews, which likely contributed to its low sales.

Keep in mind that this report is still only a rumor at this point. We’ll have more on the story as it develops.
