News Desk Masthead - Mario 2A speedrunner by the name of Nero has broken the world record for collecting all 120 stars in Super Mario 64.

Nero was racing against fellow speedrunner Puncayshun to see who could complete the game fully in the quickest time possible. Not only did Nero manage to beat Puncayshun, he finished in 1:42:15.92, which makes him the new world record holder. This time also takes into account the fact that he had to save and quit twice during the run.

The previous record was actually held by Puncayshun, who managed to collect all of the stars in the game in 1:42:32– so Nero’s new record is only seconds faster.

Now we will just have to wait and see how long it will take Puncayshun to retake his crown!
