While most of the biggest announcements regarding the next Super Smash Bros. titles have centered on new fighters and new Assist Trophies, director Masahiro Sakurai hasn’t neglected to add more of the series’ first summonable characters to the games. In today’s Smash Bros. update, Sakurai revealed that Dedenne, the adorable new Electric- and Fairy-type from Pokémon X and Y, will also be making an appearance in the upcoming fighters.

Based on the screenshot that Sakurai released on Miiverse, it appears that Dedenne will jump in the air and electrocute everyone in range when it is summoned on the battlefield. While it’s always fun to see more characters added to the series, regardless of how minor their role may be, what’s most exciting about this news is that it opens up the possibility of other new Pokémon appearing in the games as well. Perhaps we’ll see the Kalos starters pop up in the middle of a match, or maybe even the legendary Xerneas and Yveltal?
