The new Pokémon Sword and Shield anime will start airing in Japan on November 17, but some new details have emerged ahead of the first episode.
Professor Sakuragi will be the Galar region’s professor, and he is accompanied by his daughter, Koharu, and her Galar Pokémon, Yamper. Sakuragi is only the region’s professor in the anime, however, as Professor Magnolia has been confirmed as the professor in the upcoming games.
Sakuragi and Koharu are located in Vermillion City, at the Sakuragi Research Lab, and Koharu is a childhood friend of Ash’s new companion, Go.
Sakuragi will be voiced in the Japanese anime by Yuichi Nakamura, who has also voiced characters in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Fruits Basket, Fire Emblem, BlazBlue, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Koharu will be voiced by Kana Hanazawa, who played characters in Persona 4-related games, as well as in Nisekoi, Steins;Gate, and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.
