Throughout 2018, The Pokémon Company has celebrated some of the most legendary creatures in franchise history with digital giveaways at retailers like Target and GameStop. Starting this week, McDonald’s locations will have their own giveaway to celebrate the promotion with Happy Meal toys featuring eight legendary Pokémon!
Each week will bring with it a pair of Pokémon toys: Latias and Latios, Reshiram and Zekrom, Tornadus and Thundurus and Dialga and Palkia. Each figure will also be accompanied by a card from the Pokémon TCG. Perhaps the most notable aspect of the promotion is the fact that the toy lineup does not include Pikachu! While it does appear that the electric mouse mascot will appear on one of the TCG cards, this might make this the first time a Pikachu toy hasn’t appeared as part of a fast food promotion since KFC released a set of four Pokémon bean bag toys way back in 1998!
The promotion will officially kick-off this week, though some McDonald’s locations have already broken street date and started to offer the toys! This author was already able to find Latias and Latios out in the wild! Do you plan on picking any of them up? Let us know in the comments below!
