We like Ike! The veteran fighter will be returning from Super Smash Bros. Brawl to fight in new battles on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U! As revealed on the Smash Bros. website today, Ike is back in full force across both platforms. It’s tough to tell from screenshots alone whether he will retain his Brawl moveset. Historically, Ike has been a moderately heavy and slow character that packs massive power in his sword.

Ike is the second character representing the Fire Emblem series in the new games, alongside the old standby Marth. Many players were wondering if Ike would be making a return this time, as Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening was a popular choice to be his replacement.

Outside of Smash, Ike made his debut in Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance for GameCube in 2005. He later reappeared in Radiant Dawn for Wii in 2007. Both of these are excellent games, but they are somewhat uncommon and fetch quite a high price on the secondhand market.

Are you excited for the return of Ike to Super Smash Bros.?

I was a little surprised by this as I was sure that they would go for a Fire Emblem: Awakening character (like Chrom).

As long as Marth is in though, I’ll be happy. I eventually chose him over Roy in Melee and never looked back!
