Activision has confirmed that Guitar Hero Live, the latest entry in the series, will be coming to Wii U.

The game is the first new title in the Guitar Hero franchise in five years and is being developed by FreeStyleGames, which has previously worked on DJ Hero and DJ Hero 2.

A brand new guitar will be released with it, with two rows of three buttons, and its gameplay will feature a shift in perspective from the previous games. The game now plays out from a first-person perspective, looking out at a crowd who will react in real-time to how well you are playing.

The new GHTV multiplayer mode was also detailed, which allows you to play against both friends and strangers. It can be entered at the press of a button, supports drop-in, drop-out local and online play, and aims to allow gamers to start playing with others immediately.

While a song list hasn’t been confirmed yet, the following artists have been confirmed to join the tracklist: The Black Keys, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Gary Clark, Jr., Green Day, Ed Sheeran, The War on Drugs, The Killers, Skrillex, The Rolling Stones, The Lumineers, Pierce the Veil, and Blitz Kids.

Guitar Hero Live is set to be released in autumn 2015 and is also coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, as well as select mobile devices.
