It’s safe to say Mario’s iOS debut has been a success thus far, surpassing 40 million downloads worldwide in its first four days on the App Store. To keep the game’s momentum going, Nintendo has added another new mode to the popular title: Friendly Run.

As its name implies, Friendly Run is a low-stakes variation of the game’s Toad Rally mode. Unlike a typical game of Rally, in which you compete against other players’ scores to gain Toads (or lose them, depending upon your performance), Friendly Run lets you race against your friends’ scores without wagering any Toads, allowing you to practice levels without any penalties. The amount of Friendly Runs you can participate in daily is dependent on your progress in the game’s World Tour mode, and you’re limited to competing against only the players registered in your friends list.

Are you one of the 40 million players who have downloaded Super Mario Run? What do you think of Mario’s foray into mobile gaming? Let us know in the comments!
