The rise of indie gaming has resulted in a number of homages and spiritual sequels to classic games of the past. This year, Freedom Planet will give old-school Sonic the Hedgehog fans an exciting new adventure to keep an eye out for!
Freedom Planet is a brand-new title from developer GalaxyTrail. The game features protagonists Lilac, Carol and Milla as they attempt to save their world from Lord Brevon. The three playable characters each boast different abilities, which they’ll use on their quest. Fans of Sonic’s 2D outings may find the vibrant visuals and speedy protagonists a bit familiar. That’s because the title started life as a fan made Sonic game before the developers decided to head in a different direction. We’ve mirrored the video below so you can see for yourselves!
Freedom Planet is currently available on Steam, where it released to strong reviews. With Sonic’s Wii U adventures thus far leaving a bit to be desired, this could be the perfect option for fans of the blue blur. The title has a tentative release date of sometime before the end of the year.
