As promised, The Pokémon Company unveiled new information on the next pair of Pokémon titles, Pokémon Sun and Moon, this morning in the form of a brand new trailer, giving fans their first glimpse at the new games in motion.

Perhaps the biggest news to come from the trailer is the three starter Pokémon fans will be choosing from in the seventh generation titles. Trainers can begin their adventure with either Rowlet, a Grass- and Flying-type owlet; Litten, a Fire-type cat; or Popplio, a Water-type sea lion. Unlike previous starter Pokémon, all three know a move of their respective type from the outset: Rowlet begins the game with the new Grass-type attack Leafage, while Litten and Popplio know Ember and Water Gun, respectively.

The trailer also revealed some details on the games’ setting. This time around, the adventure takes place on a new tropical continent known as the Alola region. The visuals are reminiscent of those of the sixth generation Pokémon titles, though characters and scenery are even more naturally proportioned in Sun and Moon. The trailer also ends with a brief glimpse at the titles’ respective legendary Pokémon: Sun features a majestic white lion, while Moon is represented by a giant, bat-like creature.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be launching worldwide on November 18. Has the new information gotten you excited about the titles? Which starter Pokémon will you be choosing this time around? Let us know in the comments!

What a fantastic trailer. Really nicely done. I loved the theme.

As far as the footage itself goes, I really like what I see. The new Pokemon are pretty different looking, and, as a huge lover of Hawaii, I can’t help but feel excited to see a region based on the area. There is a ton of history and culture that can be mined for the new game, and I hope Game Freak fully exploits that.
